"Let the little children come."
If a child is six years old or younger, he/she is baptized at the wishes of the parents. Parents need
to participate in the Infant Baptism program.
If a child is seven years or older, he/she prepares for baptism as part of the Christian Initiation process adapted for children. Seven years old is considered the age of reason, or the time where a child
can determine the difference between right and wrong. When a child comes to the Church at this age, he/she receives
all three Sacraments of Initiation: Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist. These Sacraments are traditionally celebrated
at the Easter Vigil.
If your child was baptized in another faith tradition, he/she will be welcomed into the Catholic Church by making a Profession
of Faith. He/She will then be Confirmed and receive Eucharist. These Sacraments are traditionally celebrated
at the Easter Vigil. A child prepares for these Sacraments as part of the Christian Initiation process adapted for children.
