The Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA) is the process whereby adults enter the Catholic Church. Over the course of several months, the Good News of Jesus Christ and the teachings of the Catholic Church are shared and discussed. Those who attend the OCIA classes are given the opportunity to ask questions about the teachings and beliefs.
You do not need to be committed to joining the Church to start OCIA. If you are merely curious about what Catholicism is, please feel free to come. All are welcome.
Weekly classes are Wednesday at 6:30 PM in the Parish Office. You are welcome to start anytime throughout the year. The Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and Holy Communion will be celebrated at the Easter Vigil Mass on Holy Saturday.
Order of Christian Initiation of Children (OCIC) classes are available for children and youth who are 7 years of age or older at St. Francis of Assisi. Special meetings and resources are available for children to learn about the Church and prepare to celebrate the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and Holy Communion.
